GINGRICH TO STUMP FOR DUFFY
Former Speaker to Headline Event in Wausau
|
[Wausau, Wis.] The Duffy for Congress campaign today announced former House Speaker Newt Gingrich will campaign with 7th Congressional District candidate Sean Duffy in Wausau next week.
Speaker Gingrich will participate in a Duffy for Congress event on Friday, July 16, at the Rose Garden in Wausau. Details are below. Members of the media can RSVP by calling (715) 298-9171 and providing credentials.
Duffy for Congress campaign manager Matt Seaholm said the grassroots event will further energize voters who are hungry for reform and breaking the status quo in Washington.
“We’re happy that Speaker Gingrich recognizes Sean Duffy as one of the next generation of young leaders who can bring new, bold ideas to Washington,” Seaholm said. “It’s clear that Washington is broken and a new direction is needed to enact the reforms necessary to reduce the size and scope of the federal government, as well as empower the American people and Main Street businesses with the tools to thrive. We’re excited to provide an opportunity for Wisconsin voters to hear from Sean and the former Speaker on how to get America working again.”
Former House Speaker Gingrich, best-selling author and political analyst, is known as the architect of the “Contract with America” which helped sweep Republicans into the majority of the House of Representatives for the first time in 40 years. Under his leadership, Congress enacted welfare reform, passed a balanced budget and enacted tax cuts. He was first elected to Congress in 1978, and was elected Speaker in 1995 and served in that post until 1999.
