US Senate Candidate Dave Westlake visits Vilas County

- Dave Westlake with Jim Knuth
Dave Westlake traveled to Vilas County yesterday for our Vilas County GOP membership meeting. Westlake introduced himself as a small business owner, West Point graduate and hockey player from Madison Memorial who recalls the rivalry between his high school and Northland Pines. We asked a number of questions about his campaign, funding, principles, and strategies. He explained that many have gotten way from the ideas and policies that are needed to fuel the nation’s recovery.
He is a firm believer in term limits and said that Senators should serve no more than two consecutive terms. In the event term limits are not imposed by the congress during his service, he specifically agreed to self-limit himself to two terms.
Westlake says he promotes a Back-to-Basics approach. Bills are too long and the various references within a bill that send you searching to other parts of the bill or to other bills all together are not appropriate. He urged us to view a video he just posted on his web site at: http://www.davewestlake.org/ that calls for clarity, honesty and leadership. It reminds us of the extraordinary effectiveness of just one sheet of paper — our Declaration of Independence!
